Narrative

Today we spent basically the whole day anticipating Hasmik's arrival, i.e., cleaning walls. The NE wall was already fairly clean, though we dug it a little deeper with shovels and then cleaned more carefully. However, the NW wall still had topsoil visible in some places between the two faces, and what we discovered as we dug down was that there are rather a lot of rocks between the two faces. So cleaning the NW wall has turned into a much more intensive project than I anticipated, when I instructed the workers simply to expose the corners of the rocks on the wall faces. So work on the NW will have to continue tomorrow. The amount of material found in the walls is quite low, so much so that I haven't even separated the bag of obsidian, bone, and tiny ceramics from locus 8, the NW wall. I'll have to do that soon, though. We had a rain delay today, and the rain kept threatening to arrive, so unfortunately, we did not do any intensive digging inside of the room. But we'll work on that in the morning tomorrow.
