Today we closed Locus 19, the last of the dark wash layer in the SW side of the trench (where WSI and WSI2 connect). We also dug Locus 17, the locus around the hearth/burial/water basin feature (i.e. Locus 20) and the pipe/smokestack (Locus 21). We found the floor along the NE wall, where it is hard-packed and very white in color, probably because of the wall-plaster coming down off the walls and onto the floor. We also discovered the floor at the eastern edge of the pipe (Locus 21) and found that it lies above the floor at its western edge. Near it we found another lovely red vessel fragment with a zoomorphic protome, which is now part of the Locus 7 sherd scatter, though it appears that that scatter now comprises perhaps 3, 4 or 5 vessels, all of which are finely made. We photographed the whole NE side of the trench and removed Locus 21, the pipe.
