Today we reopened Locus 20 in order to see its full extent (we found the borders yesterday), and we also dug out the wheelbarrow ramp (Locus 26). Under the ramp emerged a strange construction that looks like an interior alcove inside the main area of the room. It has a boxlike structure that has rocks in it, though what they are covering is certainly unclear. We also cleared off the entire floor in order to take floor photos so that we can cut through to bedrock starting tomorrow. There are still a handful of huge questions open--what is Locus 20? What will we find when we excavate it tomorrow? And what is this new box of rocks, Locus 27? If we remove a few rocks to see what it is, what will we find? And are all of the things that I've marked as possible column bases /actually/ bases? Tomorrow we'll hopefully answer at least the questions about what lies beneath Locus 20's box and the other box of rocks, Locus 27.
