Today was the first day at Arai Caravanserai site. The village mayor is having difficulties organizing workers, but after further negotiations I should have a work team of four workers (at 4000 AMD/day) by tomorrow at 9am. RH and I went to the site and measured out two units. We marked the corners with chaining pins. AC1 is a 5x5 meter trench in the northeast corner of the caravanserai. AC2 is a 4x6 meter trench in the center of the caravanserai, 8m south from the caravanserai wall, and centered on the western abutment remnant. A worker (Artur) was hired to cut the grass within the site. RH and I discussed strategies for photographing the inside face of the northern wall, which still needs to be drawn. Basically, if I can get a vantage point level with the centerpoint of the wall, 12 meters away, then i can take a static plane view of the wall. This i should be able to trace in pshop for a maximally accurate architectural drawing.
