Today I closed locus 2 and opened locus 3. Locus 2 revealed that there has been serious wall fall on the wall (retaining wall?) on the SE edge. Since this end of the trench is higher in elevation that the front end (the NW edge), we decided to create locus 3 to lower it. Locus 3 runs from the edge of the SE wall (where it looks intact, not from the edge of the wall fall) to another stone 3.8m from the SE edge of the trench. It's clear at this point that a number of fairly large stones need to be removed from this area. The southern corner is particularly well preserved, though steps will probably need to be taken to make sure it does not fall down. It also seems like that corner of the trench is producing the most material at this point.
