Day began with completing the removal of Locus 2, the dark loose loam of the upper overburden in WSAC2. I closed that locus before lunch and opened up two more in the same area delimited by the baulks and the partition wall, because a change in soil texture and color was already appearing. There is also a considerable slope to the excavation and I wanted to start navigating that and making it more level. Locus 4 constitutes the northeastern section of this area below Locus 2 and is a lighter brown, with lots of smaller rocks and a mixture of LBA and Iron III ceramics. Locus 5 is the continuation of the Locus 2-type dark loam in the central and southwestern areas of the operation delimited by the partition wall. After the workers (I now have six) finished one pass in Locus 4, I decided to close it after some cleaning of the wall because the clay-y tannish/yellowish/brown matrix of the overburden seen in 2010's operation started appearing near the wall. Around 3:30 I then opened Locus 5 and the workers were able to do a small area before the end of the day. Locus 4 had a lot of ceramics, a mixture of LBA and Iron III.
