We started out the day working in loci 3 and 4 in opposite ends the of the trench. 3 is in the NW end, while 4 is in the SE. With the cleaning in locus 3 finished it was clear that there will indeed be problems in taking down the SE wall, especially around the middle. Locus 4 also turned up significant wall fall in the W corner of the trench, a number of which rocks are being broken up by the workers tonight. Hopefully we're getting towards the end of the fall in both ends.
The next big challenge will be the scattered rocks in the middle of the trench. The plan now is to work towards the middle from both ends. Today I opened locus 5, which runs from the back (SE) wall to point about 5.5 m (5.67m from the back of the trench) to the NW. This is where the second alignment of stones is, so we'll see whether they turn out to be at all significant.
IL also shot the datum points today, so we now have absolute elevations for the trench corners and the loci.
