As we continued clearing Locus 4, the area of light tan clay expanded outward from the NE corner towards the center. The clay is mottled with black staining, and a small area that looks like burnt clay. There continue to be small pieces of charcoal throughout the locus. Near the NE corner, we found a small obsidian arrowhead (Ar/Ge.T31.4.L.01) at 2284.71 m. Cleaning up the area of clay in the NE corner revealed another portion of a burnt beam (Locus 8), which doesn’t appear to be part of the other beam in the northern wall of the trench (Locus 6), given the angle it is lying at. This beam (Locus 8) is not angled downwards like locus 6 & 7, but rather is laying flat in the layer of light tan clay, at a depth of 2284.74 m. Due to rain in the afternoon, the clearing will have to be finished tomorrow.
