(Notebook says 7/16/02)
Began by isolating vessel/oven of locus 10. Continued to get bigger as we exposed it.
While leveling out locus 4 east of oven vessel, we uncovered flat stone with 60cm deep pit carved into it. Also has two tether holes carved into it. This feature is locus 11. Three soil samples taken from pit at different depths. Carbon sample also taken.
Began expanding into WT01 (Adam's old trench from 1998) since we're now below that level. Calling the material from 125cm above WT03 datum locus 000 and material below 125cm b.d. locus 100. Found some nice ceramics that we point provenienced. Also found large pieces of another storage vessel that may have been part of Adam's butter churning vessel.
Strange yellow clay deposit sampled from WT01 at 125cm b.d. near E balk.
Bone spindle whorl taken from locus 4 as small find.
Flat rounded stone also found that resembles a wheel or lid but may be nothing.
Quit early due to hail.
