It is clear today that a wall is emerging that is built just to the E of the bedrock in the W side of the trench. The construction seems to be rather substantial, and may coincide with the walls that are in T27. We continued removing the rest of L04 this morning, and then began a new pass (L06) that will bring the excavation level with the section in the SE of the trench where the wooden post is. Between the wall and the bedrock there seems to be a gravelly matrix of fill- we'll have to expose more of the wall before I can open a new locus and investigate the relationship between the wall and the bedrock. L06 has more charcoal inclusions in it, suggesting that we're moving closer to the destruction level (this obviously isn't surprising, but a good sign). We have only taken a few charcoal samples so far because the charcoal is in a fill level and won't be particularly useful in dating anything.
