Narrative

We started the morning by continuing to take down Locus 4, in preparation for closing the locus. Along the middle of the eastern wall, there is an area of more compact, slightly greyer tan clay matrix, which also has the black staining seen in the rest of the locus. In the NE, there is a clear rodent burrow, which it at the bottom of Locus 4/top of Locus 10. In the NE corner of the locus, we found a ceramic disk (Ar/Ge.T31.4.CO.06) at a depth of 2284.70 masl. The disk was found in the layer of tan clay. We found another ceramic disk (Ar/Ge.T31.4.CO.07) nearby, at 2284.59 masl.
Towards the end of day, we found another section of burnt beam in the NW corner, which is lying flat on the tan clay. After plotting its location on the plan, it is clear that this is a lower section of the beam that is Locus 9. The top of this section of the beam is at 2284.56 masl. This section of the beam measures 14 cm x 30 cm. Since it was discovered late in the afternoon, we are going to wait till tomorrow to take it out.
