Busy day today in T32. I began the day with three goals in mind: 1) begin to draw the NE-SW wall that runs through the trench (Ar/Ge.T32.08) and get measurements for the top of it; 2) Continue L11 in the SW corner of the trench in order to make it a level locus; 3) Clean the S baulk in the SW corner of T27 in order to get a better feel for the stratigraphy of this room and to figure out how these two trenches will relate to each other. However, as soon as I had a chance to get settled we found a "jar-stopper" and more exciting, a stamp of some sort. Both of these came from L11 (Ar/Ge.T32.11.CO.04 and Ar/Ge.T32.11.CO.05 respectively) and came form roughly the same part of the trench, in the SW, just E of the wall (Ar/Ge.T32.08).
After Aris had finished cleaning the section in the SW of T27, Adam suggested having him excavated a small window in the SE corner of T32. This would serve 2 purposes: 1) to discern whether the "wooden post" actually continued down into cultural layers (it seemed to, extending at least 30 cm, and is now a feature: Ar/Ge.T32.13, and a dendro sample: Ar/Ge.T32.14). This sounding is L12 (Ar/Ge.T32.12). I spent most of the afternoon wrapping this wooden post so that it can be used as a dendro sample. Finally I had a bit of time to begin drawing the wall (Ar/Ge.T32.08) towards the end of the day, but it still needs to be cleaned a bit to be drawn well. I also will need to take elevations for it at some point in the next few days.
