Narrative

While continuing to take down Locus 10, we encountered a small, rounded tuff polishing stone (Ar/Ge.T31.10.L.01) at a depth of 2284.44 masl. The piece of worked antler (Ar/Ge.T31.10.B.01) found near the NE corner of the locus was dislodged over the weekend by a cow. It was at a depth of 1.27 cm below Datum 4.
The soil in Locus 10 is increasingly mottled, with tan, dark brown, medium brown, and black areas. There are also concentrations of charcoal and black staining, which while not clearly beams, are large enough to include on the plan. The compactness of the matrix varies between the different lenses. There is also clear evidence for rodent activity in this locus. In the NE corner, there is a small, round piece of charcoal, which looks like a small posthole, but the grain of the wood runs horizontally and not vertically, and is at a depth of 129 cm below Datum 4. I took this piece of charcoal as a sample for radiocarbon dating (Ar/Ge.T31.10.C14.01). Due to rain, we had to end the day early.
