Narrative

AM While waiting for AC2 to dry out a little more, we took down Locus 15 in AC1 and defined the foundations of the outer (eastern)caravanserai wall (locus 17). Moved over to AC2, where we uncovered a second rectangular ashlar arch base 4 meters south of the first, covered in rubble and concrete. Cleaned Locus 8 to the level of the top of the bases. Started cleaning out pit locus 9, trying to determine the relationship between the pit, fill (locus 8) and whatever surface might be present. Within the pit found some small bits of cultural material and a definitely 20th century turnkey for sluicegates. Declared the round burnt feature in the northeast corner Locus 11 (Locus 10 are the bases themselves)
Talked to a villager, who remembers the winter the east wall fell: December 1964.
Also, hypothetically we are 7-10 cm above the level of the bases in AC1.
