Narrative

The workers spent the morning backfilling WSI2 (I arrived late). In the late morning, we returned to WSN, once again focusing on loci 36 and 37. Locus 36 bottomed out on bedrock--very low material densities in this packed clay surface, which I regard as either the floor or perhaps a preparatory surface just beneath it. We're encountering rocks at the bottom of much of locus 37 (though less so as we move toward the east, locus 34). Found one of the most remarkable finds in the screened soil from locus 37 today: an iron (?) earring with a blue pendant (perhaps faience?). Tomorrow will focus on cleaning the many possible stone features in the room. There are several possible alignments of stones that require closer inspection at this point.
