we worked all day in AC1, trying to define the wall collapse (locus 14) and to bring down the fills (loci 15 and 16)to the levels of the cultural deposits. Burnt soil locus 16 proved to be rather lens-like within/on top of locus 15, which also contained a central (to the trench) feature of fallen stone, ash, and burnt wood (locus 18, photographed and charcoal sample). found multiple sherds of a vessel lying at the interface of loci 16 and 15, photographerd. uncovered an ashlar base underneath very loose rubble in the east baulk in the early PM, rest of the day spent taking locus 18 down. started a detailed drawing of the architectural stones and collapse in AC2.
