Work today was slowed quite a bit by the breaking of two sledgehammer handles. Rock breaking was proceeding quickly in the morning when the first break happened; after a forty minute delay a new handle had been procured, but after about two swings it too was destroyed. After lunch someone brought a sledge with an iron handle, but it was very heavy and not much progress was made. Assuming that there are no more equipment malfunctions, one or two more days should be enough to clear the rocks away.
Loci 10 and 12 are still open, but I took bottom N and W corner elevations for 10 so that I could open locus 14 against the NW wall -- NOT against the SW wall, since the red clay matrix is already visible there. Locus 14 exposed the top of the feature (a trough?) which we know from LK's WSM rests on the floor. One more pass should take us to the floor there.
