We started this morning by continuing to take down Locus 20 and drawing in the burnt beams (Loci 21-23) on the plan. Locus 21 consists of long section of a thin beam, which is surrounded by smaller pieces of charcoal. Locus 22 consists of four pieces of burnt beams around and in between the rocks in the NE corner of the locus. Locus 23 consists of 3 sections of burnt beams, two of which are lying flat and one of which is angled downward. We found a large piece of groundstone (Ar/Ge.T31.20.L.01) south of the large rock in the northern wall at a depth of 2284.22 masl. It was lying at an angle in the matrix. We found a tuff wheel (Ar/Ge.T31.20.L.02) near Locus 14 and Locus 23, at 2284.13 masl. There is another large groundstone (Ar/Ge.T31.20.L.03), which is lying flat, just south of the large rock in the northern wall of the trench, at 2284.12 masl. It is broken into two pieces. Locus 14 is deeper than we initially thought and part of it is resting on a rock. I took radiocarbon samples from Locu 21-23.
We decided to extend Locus 20 to the step in the trench, which is to say to 6 m west of the eastern wall, except in the north, where the step located a wall running SSW-NNE. Inside the wall (between the wall and the step) is now Locus 24. The matrix in Locus 24 is a medium brown sandy loam and has a high level of gravel inclusions.
