In the morning I mapped Conner's extension in ET3 and his new ET4 trench.
In SLT13, we have leveled off and finished locus 2 in the main room interior, and are starting locus 6 below locus 2 in the hopes that we are near a floor.
While troweling near the main locus 4 wall, we came across an outcrop of stone that had a mortar feature carved into it. The mortar is 36cm in diameter and 34cm deep, and has a sharp conical shape to it. I took 3 cloth sample bags of dirt from inside the feature, which was basically all the dirt there was to collect (Ar/Ts.SLT13.7.ss.1, .2, and .3). Another shallow depression is visible about 20cm to the north that appears to be where they started to grind another mortar but stopped. This shallow feature will be locus 8. No samples collected since it was so shallow. Finally, while taking down our wheelbarrow ramp in locus 2, we recovered a small complete whetstone (Ar/Ts.SLT13.2.L.5). So far there seems to be many more tools in this operation than in SLT9 last year.
