In SLT14, locus 3, while cleaning out some loose cobbles along the western baulk about 20cm above the locus 5 clay layer, one of the cobble turned out to be a small complete mortar (Ar/Ts.SLT14.3.L.1).
In SLT13, took another couple of decent c14 samples in locus 6 (Ar/Ts.SLT13.6.c14.3 and .4).
An interesting find today in the baulk separating SLT9 and SLT13. Last week we had been cleaning the wall stones and what on the surface looked like some large collapse stones between the operations, when we came across a nearly complete phiala resting on a flat stone. Further cleaning exposed an area of cobbles encircled by what I now recognized as a ring of large boulders (what I originally took for collapse stones). A rectangular opening in the cobbles, in addition to the phiala discovery, suggested that this could be a burial. Lori came over and we decided to establish a new operation number (SLT 15) and dig down into the chamber, which would be locus 1. A few broken human long bones were found, and we'll hopefully finish excavating it tomorrow. We're screening the fill. No capstone was visible so it may have been already robbed, except for the phiala for some reason.
