Lilit on site today to start drawing the architecture in SLT13, since we've probably exposed all of it that will go on the plan view.
While she was working I had a couple guys finish cleaning out the SLT15 Achaemenid tomb. Not much recovered in the screen; just a few broken pieces of human long bone and a couple sherds and obsidian flakes.
In SLT13, we collected a radiocarbon sample at the base of the locus 4 wall where it meets bedrock at 2.62m below datum, while were exposing the bedrock around the wall for Lilit. (sample Ar/Ts.SLT13.6.c14.5).
In SLT 14, we're still going down in the cobbly layer in the northern section of locus 5. I took a measurment at 0.88m below datum that may be a floor surface, sketched it in my notebook, and continued down since I think locus 9 is the real floor surface. The thick clay may just be a buildup of subsequent occupations, or just a dense clay layer. I've had lots of floor false alarms in prior operations. I'm screening this area anyway just in case, and nothing surprising really came out in the screen. Just some smaller pieces of pottery, obsidian, and bones. Still lots of bones.
