After an early morning visit to Gegharot, we arrived at Tsaghkahovit to find WSN filled with water. The northwest sector of the room's interior was a pond--it took over two hours to empty the water out with buckets. So we did little work inside the room today, only breaking the large trapezoidal stone in the south quadrant that, it became clear, was floating, and finishing up in locus 31 (where several sherds of a storage vessel were found--might this confirm that these stone alignments were sometimes used for storage?). Took a soil sample from beneath the trapezoidal stone--the matrix that rests directly above the bedrock outcrop. Otherwise, energies were focused today on the northwest wall. Most importantly, we confirmed the probable doorway on the northern side. The western face of the passageway is well preserved, but a substantial stone from the northern face is missing. Will complete the doorway space tomorrow. Also, today finished locus 50, the top of the northwest wall, in all areas but the area of the WB ramp. Will do only minimal cleaning of southeast wall for fear of compromising the integrity of the wall. Just about ready for Lilit to start drawing the walls (while we complete the interior).
