In the morning 5 workers continued removing the sod/topsoil in WSAC3. I had two workers troweling and cleaning Locus 32 in the SW doorway. Lori and I discussed taking final photos in WSAC2 before more of WSAC3 was excavated, so in the late morning I had everyone move into WSAC2 and clean and finish working in that operation so I could take photographs. This involved 1) finishing the cleaning of the SW doorway, 2) finishing the excavation of Locus 16, the soil in the linear feature against the SE wall, and 3) sweeping the paved floor.
In the doorway, Aparani Artur came down on a different, more compact and grayish matrix with flecks of white and a mottled consistency, so I closed Locus 32 and opened Locus 33 as this new matrix, and took photographs. There are two large stones facing the room between the faces of the doorway which might be threshold stones, or just blockage. I had Artur trowel this locus down and clean the faces of the doorway.
The excavation of Locus 16 was frustrating because the matrix was showing no signs of changing despite the drop in elevation, below the paved floor, where some stones of an apparently lower course to the SE wall started appearing. I had the guys stop at the end of the day as there were a lot of rocks and it was getting more and more difficult to excavate this area because of the narrow spaces of the linear feature. They cleaned the surface and screened the material, and then swept the room for final photos. I decided not to mess with the clay floor that abuts the paved floor in front of the doorway, as it might become more clear with the rest of the room opened up in WSAC3.
Took final photos at the very end of the day.
Also established third datum point on stone in northern corner of WSAC3, with elevation as 2140.833.
