AM took AC4 down to the emergent level of a widespread layer of fallen tuff ashlars. Took a soil sample from one of the burnt features in AC2, north of the southern arch base: i designated this burnt lens Locus 13. The revealed reddish clay floor is designated locus 14.
PM worked down in AC3, removing a level of stones fallen from the western wall (collapse is locus 5) and designating the western soil/fill beneath this level locus 6 (as opposed to the orangier, sandier soil associated with and east of the ashlar collapse). pulled the fragments of a nearly complete vessel from the top of locus 6, beneath the wall fall.
