A little progress was made in locus 23 today, but several large rocks continued to emerge as we dug, and these needed to be broken. On the other hand, we finished locus 28, which had very few cultural materials throughout, and opened 29, which is a feature locus. Locus 29 by contrast had a relatively large amount of bone and pottery. We found several rims, at least some of which were Iron Age. I would like to expose a bit more of the feature before I posit what its function might have been. I had a stone removed from the area perhaps a bit prematurely. It might have been part of the feature, but it was floating at a level well above the rest of the stones. Since all the stones that delimit the feature are floating, however, it is not inconceivable that the stone in question was part of it. At any rate the feature is still clearly delimited. We should learn more about it tomorrow.
