We focused today on locus 65 in WSN, where a very peculiar situation is emerging. The matrix in this area was similar to that of the floor encountered elsewhere, but it seemed to continue to a greater depth then in areas to the southeast. We thus continued to excavate, discovering that the tannish clay of the floor just continued downward. There thus appears to be a pit in this area, but not a circular one, and indeed, the contours of the feature, though yet to be entirely defined, appear to be quite irregular. Along the northwest wall, we have exposed two courses of stones that back the "pit". Toward the northern side, a deep and seemingly sterile clay deposit appears to define the edge of the presumed pit. But we're having difficulty defining it elsewhere, namely, finding a border to the southeast. The presumed pit like feature is rich in materials (two + bags of pottery so far). And we have found two bone tools and one groundstone inside it.
