Narrative

We started today by continuing down in Locus 43. There is a small line of rocks which runs under the wall (Locus 25), NNE-SSW. The material NW of this wall is Locus 45. As it seems clear that the two lines of rocks in the center-north portion of the trench are not two faces of the same wall, I gave the eastern line of rocks its own locus (Locus 46). After finishing Locus 43, we started down west of the edge of the floor, which is Locus 47. Since it has become clear that there isn’t a wall running under Locus 46, Locus 47 covers the entire width of the trench.
The matrix in Locus 47 on the eastern side is a light brown sandy silty loam with a moderate level of gravel inclusions. Towards the middle of the locus, the matrix becomes a medium brown. On the eastern edge of the locus there is a patch of yellow sandy matrix with a high level of gravel inclusions, which might be bedrock. There is also evidence of rodent burrows. Fragments of an EB II beaker came out of the northern part of Locus 47, just west of the large oval stone in Locus 25 (wall).
