Because the rain yesterday came too fast and we were unable to clean, photograph and remove the ceramics we wanted to, we covered the basin and associated ceramics and removed them today. In the afternoon we cleaned the trench, especially the basin, re-photographed and removed the ceramics inside the basin, as well as two small ceramics that were uncovered as we removed the baulk between T32 and T33. We, however, left the larger ceramics (such as the large storage jar to the N of the basin, the magral and the two medium-large storage jars that sat against the S baulk when it existed) in place to be excavated tomorrow so we can be sure to collect all the pieces and the soil within these vessels for floatation. The removal of the S baulk of T32 (which we also worked on today) exposed a number of important features, including a large grinding stone, a stone-lined pit (Ar/Ge.T32.38), a number of stone artifacts, and a deposit of at least eight cow astragali (for divination purposes?). The clearing of the baulk was both Ar/Ge.T32.36, and beneath that, Ar/Ge.T32.37.
