Narrative

Trench floor was made to be parallel to the slope of the hill. To do this, a series of 5 steps roughly 10 cm deep were created, which will eventually be excavated diagonally. Locus 1 is still the only open locus. After the steps are angled off into a slope, locus 2 and 3 will be used as described in journal entry 1, on 06•27•11.

A bovid vertebra was found immediately below an ankle bone of the same family. An equid leg bone (terminating near knee?) was found approximately 100 cm NW of the two bovid bones.

Most finds are ceramics, with an increase in animal bones over obsidian, but not drastic enough to warrant locus creation.

At this point, locus 1 is still the only open locus, as topsoil continues to be removed.

Ceramics is still the most frequently found artifact. The frequency of obsidian is decreasing drastically, while the frequency of animal bones is increasing. It's about time to split locus 1 into loci 2 and 3.
