We started today by finishing Locus 48, after which we opened a new locus (Locus 50) west of the LB floor. The matrix in Locus 50 is a light brown sandy clay loam with moderate gravel inclusions. In the NE corner of Locus 50, there is a yellow, highly granular matrix, which may be bedrock. In the southern part of the locus, a tan, gravelly matrix is appearing.
The large groundstone (Ar/Ge.T31.48.L.01) is too big to take from the site, so I took its measurements at the site. Under the groundstone (Ar/Ge.T31.31.L.04) in the NW corner of the LB floor (Locus 31), we found a fragment of an EB andiron (Ar/Ge.T31.31.CO.03), which was sitting on the clay floor at 2283.73 masl.
I extended Locus 49 one meter to the south (making it 2 m x 1 m), in order to see if the bedrock extended out. In the extension there was a portion of a burnt beam (Locus 51), which runs ENE-WSW. I took a portion of the beam as a radiocarbon sample (Ar/Ge.T31.51.C14.01), which will help us date the level(s) of the floor.
