Again we spent just about the whole day excavating in T34, and still doing so with shovels as we're still in what seems to be a massive wash layer. However, a few things did develop throughout the day: first, the bedrock which was originally in the NW corner of the trench seemingly extends along almost all of the W edge of the trench and seems to be faced with small stones which in effect create a wall. More excavation will reveal how substantial this construction really is. The wash still continues quite deep (such that we are at a deeper elevation in T34 now than anything in T32 and T33). So, I've opened a new locus to represent another layer of excavation-- but which is still this massive wash layer. Towards the end of the day we also may have begun to exposed a wall in the NE corner of the trench.
I also spent some of the day helping Adam with the GPR. He completed units 5D and 4D today. Depending on how my trench progress I may try to do a few units for him towards the end of the week. The data (from what I've seen) still looks very promising.
