Today we continued taking down Locus 53. We removed a few of the large rocks which were pedestaled in the center of the locus. The ceramic scatter extends under where the rocks were and occupies most of the center of the locus. The vast majority of sherds are coming from a concentration of ceramics in the center of the locus. We found a piece of groundstone (Ar/Ge.T31.53.L.02) near the center of the locus at 2283.57 masl.
I’ve extended Locus 49 another two meters to the south, where it now reaches the rocks in the SW corner of Locus 31. The SE corner is down to bedrock (1 m x 1 m) and the remaining 3 meters are down to the floor prep. There is still quite a bit of charcoal mixed in with the clay. The floor prep is better preserved on the northern side of the locus.
