We started this morning by removing a few of the large rocks which were pedasteled in Locus 53. The ceramic densities remain high in Locus 53. We found a large ceramic disk (Ar/Ge.T31.53.CO.01) near the border of Locus 53 and Locus 54 at 2283.23 masl. We also found a portion of a groundstone (Ar/GeT31.53.L.03) in the ceramic scatter at 2283.33 masl.
In Locus 54, we found a small ceramic disk (Ar/Ge.T31.54.CO.01) near the center of the eastern side of the locus, at 2283.19 masl. We found a portion of a projectile point (Ar/Ge.T31.54.L.02) in the SW corner of locus, at 2283.19 masl. Given its location in the trench and its proximity to the large rock in the SW corner, this can be considered as coming from topsoil. On Reuben’s advice, I’ve extended Locus 49 to the north in order to expose more of the earliest level of the floor before the end of the season.
