I gave the workers only one task today: digging and screening locus 41. We had three wheelbarrows and occasionally two screeners working on the locus, and by the end of the day it was completed. This is good news, because now I will most certainly be able to dig the floor of the feature in locus 29, and it puts me in good shape for closing out the season.
Bottom elevations for loci 33 and 38 were also remeasured today, since my last set of numbers didn't seem to work out correctly.
I discussed with LK the possibility that the feature in locus 29 was built later than the flagstone floor in locus 17 and the "trough" in locus 16. We agreed that it probably was. There is a layer of red clay visible under the flagstone floor and most of the associated architecture, whereas there is very little red clay underneath any of the stones in locus 29. The construction of the latter feature is also quite sloppy compared to the flagstone floor and the retaining walls. When we dig the floor in locus 29 (soon to be locus 42) we should be able to get a better idea of its function.
