Narrative

7/1/2013
This morning was mild, not hot or cool, with a fairly strong breeze (yesterday was very windy). The afternoon was quite hot (approximately 30 degrees).
Locus 7 is now the area to the SE of the SE wall (locus 5).
Today my workers were: Emil, Gago, Gor, Davit, and Ardzrun in the afternoon.
We began with all four workers removing the remaining loose soil from locus 2. After a while, I moved Gor and Gago to digging in locus 3, again moving from SE to NW.

We did find a piece of glass in locus 2, near the N of the area.

Emil began to excavate locus 6, finding one piece of obsidian, before I noticed that he had expanded beyond locus 2.

Before lunch, Emil and I cleaned the walls of locus 2. There is a lot of tumble in locus 2, which has made keeping the locus level more difficult. We have been finding a greater density of finds on the SW side of locus 2. When we close locus 2, I will make a new locus underneath the area.

Gor, Gago and Davit continued to excavate the SE side of locus 3. I had them dig more than 15 cm in the E corner, in order to make the locus more level. We found slag in the E corner of locus 3, which Ruben says is naturally occurring (so we discarded it). In the middle of locus 3 (also the middle of the room), we found very few artifacts, the density dropping dramatically as we moved NW from the SE wall (locus 5). In the SE wall (locus 5), there is a break in the wall, which seems to form some kind of alcove. This will be locus 8.
