Today we continued to remove topsoil from the extended area to the east, as well as from the northern half of the operation. We continued to remove the overburden from the southern end of the trench. Unfortunately, part of the mound (which wasn\'t covered in rocks) along the west side of kurgan was accidentally removed.
Within the circle of the kurgan, there appear to be two distinct piles of stone, separated by a section of earth that is sort of hourglass-shaped (part of which was accidentally removed). It is not yet clear why this is the case. Additionally the southern line of the stone circle has not yet been located.
