7/2/13 Steady progress in WSDB, as we worked to further excavate the passageway (?) leading out of WSDA. I opened locus 7, a medium brown silt in the area of the passageway. Any further work in this area will require screening. Otherwise, concentrated on recording (photographing) and opening what seemed almost certainly to be a doorway extending from the western and of the southwest baulk into an undefined adjacent space outside of the operation. The area of this seeming doorway was filled with stones that appear to be haphazard--no sign of deliberate closure. Yet quite unexpectedly, it appears as though the final stones of the doorway that are within the trench are floating--on both sides. This is extremely peculiar. The general area looks so very much like the other doorways encountered at the site that it is difficult to view it at this point as anything else, yet such floating stones (work worked faces on the sides that face the doorway) are also unlikely. Will probably require an expansion to clarify the situation.
