Today was a day of rock breaking. About 15 rocks were broken in my trench, WSDA2. Most rocks were located in the Eastern half of the trench. The largest boulder, between locus 12&13 took about 3 hours to break. We were rained on during lunch. Our trenches were wet when we arrived in the morning because it rained all night. After the rock breaking, Lori and I troweled out the trench and determined dark soil still persists in the southern half of the trench. The soil color change, from medium at the north half to dark at the southern half, occurs in the middle of the trench in the space between the wall and the balk. The soil is locus 12 and 13 is much rockier than previous soils.
