Today began sunny and with a dry breeze, although after lunch, a heavy rain fell for about ten minutes, and then lighter rain for around 35-40. All told, we lost about 50 minutes to the rain.
In WSDE, we took the N corner down to almost 1 meter below the WSDE datum 1, to ascertain whether in fact WSDE captures an interior space. I originally intended not to spend much time here, but when it looked to me like some of the stones on the wall that continues to the east out of WSDA1 might be plastered, I continued the work in a small (180 x 150 cm) area, to try to see what might come of the lighter soil, and the very light material collection. The answer is simply, I don\\\'t know. It might be plastered, it might not, but the material density is quite light. Lori will look at the wall tomorrow.
In the meantime, I took closing photos for WSDE.04, which was the locus that captured the possible bleeding plaster. And then I moved my team of three into WSDB, where they removed the topsoil from WSDB.10 (the 1 m extension that we laid out on 7/3) and began to dig there. We will continue in that locus tomorrow. I have grave doubts that WSDE will be very productive for the research questions at hand.
