Narrative

Today at Kurgan 2, we continued to come down in the SW quadrant (Locus 2). As we came down, we occasionally found pieces of decaying white chalkstone. Just below the level of the large stones in the center of the quadrant, there is a layer of clay that extends approximately 30-40 cm out from the rocks. The clay layer around the stones is quite visible in the E-W section of the quadrant. As we were cleaning and leveling the SW quadrant, there were patches of white on the surface (possible from clay or decayed chalkstone?). Today we finished coming down in Locus 2 and photographed it. Tomorrow Lilit will begin to draw that quadrant.

At Kurgan3, we began to remove the topsoil.
