Narrative

In Kurgan 2, today Lilit drew the sections in the SW quadrant.

In Kurgan 3, we began removing the topsoil and overburden (Locus 1) from the SW quadrant. As we came down, the line of stones of the kurgan became visible. The kurgan is smaller than we initially anticipated, it is actually 9m in diameter. I moved the center point to more accurately reflect this, and now the SW quadrant of the trench measures 5.0 m E-W and 6.7 m N-S. Material densities are very low and there haven’t been any of the white, chalky stones (in contrast to Kurgan 2).
