Narrative

Today dawned with significant rain. We went to Tsaghkahovit because we were told it was not currently raining there, but it was raining by the time we arrived. We went to the Sargsyans\' home, drank coffee, and read some pottery. We began work around 11:10 a.m., but the soil never really dried while we were there. So we had to change our plans for how to manage the work.

In WSDB, we broke one of the rocks that appeared to overhang the burial (Locus 18 is the matrix that surrounds the human remains Locus 20). I looked underneath the other rock, to make sure that we wouldn\'t harm any last few bones from body Locus 20, only to discover a different (and much smaller/younger) mandible in the matrix. So now we know that there is at least part of another individual lying in WSDB, in the extension that expanded the trench to 7.5 m. After this discovery, I suspended work in that area of the trench, because the soil was simply too wet to even consider dealing with human remains.

Instead, we took the \"knob\" of dirt from the SW baulk (in Locus 9), and we cleaned the wall in the S quadrant of WSDB. After these tasks were accomplished, I sent my two workers to help in WSDA1 and WSDA2, where much work still remains to clean the walls and open the floor to its entirety.

Lori and I also worked on figuring out where to concentrate the next work, once WSDA and WSDB are finished, and she set out a new trench in Room S of Precinct A.
