Today we started late (around 11:15am) because of the rain. We picked up the cleaned and bagged pottery and then went to a house and read the pottery. When we arrived at the site, our trenches were very wet. I started my workers cleaning the SE wall and continuing to work on the \"alcove\" in along the NE wall of the trench. First we photographed the \"alcove.\" Next, workers removed 5 boulders by bringing them out of the alcove and breaking them. After, workers cleaned up the remaining rock debris and cleaned out the alcove. The workers stayed in the same locus (28) the entire time while moving down to the floor in the alcove. We found the floor to be rock (perhaps making use of bedrock?). We could not clean the alcove to be perfect because some of the dirt left behind supported the rocks that were leaning along the wall of the alcove. I helped lay out a trench (WSS1) in precinct A. We laid out the first room, then decided we did not want to do that room and moved over the next room. We were able to take the edge layer of sod off. When there is idle work while we finish my trench in the next day or so, I will send workers to take off the remaining layer of sod. Tomorrow, I need to finish cleaning walls, trowel the floor, take photos, deal with the pottery piece still in locus 20, make each wall a locus, and close a few loci.
