Today my workers were: Sahag, Gor, Johnik (for Gagik), and Melkon (for Boris), plus Nareg.
It was hot and sunny today.
Today we needed to finish cleaning the walls, remove part of locus 26, and excavate locus 25.
Small find Ar/Ts.WSDA1.35.L.01 was a projectile point, 84 cm below datum 2; 20 cm from the SW wall; and 170 cm from the W corner.
Roman scraped locus 30 while Ardzrun removed part of locus 26.
The scraping of 30 revealed the light soil clearly in the S corner of the room. It is still a little unclear near the center of the locus, but additional scraping revealed that it just required a few more centimeters.
In locus 28, we found a zoomorphic/proto-?, and a possible small find of a bone tool, which I should clean and check. These were found 182 cm below datum 2, 170 cm from the NE baulk, and 320 cm from the SE wall (locus 38).
We had a C14 sample in locus 28 as well, Ar/Ts.WSDA1.28.C14.01, 2 meters from the NE baulk, 415 cm from the SE wall (locus 38) and 183 cm below datum 2.
We also found oven parts in locus 28, near where it met locus 26.
The alcove (locus 25 to start) had both a layer of orange clay and a layer of white soil, which ran into locus 26, along the wall. We did two soil samples as well. The first soil sample, locus 25, is the orange clay, while locus 40 is the white soil. Both soil types are included in bags for locus 25.
Locus 25 Bottom elevation & Locus 40 Top elevation: -166 cm (from datum 2)
Locus 40 bottom elevation: -172.5 cm (from datum 2)
Locus 25 and 40 extend up to 60 cm from the inner wall of the alcove, we found a rock at the base of locus 40, just to the NW of the alcove. Locus 26 ran into the wall just S of the alcove.
Locus 41 is the floor.
Top elevations (from datum 2)
E “corner” (S of locus 26): =182.5 cm
S corner: -176
Center: -174.5 cm
N corner: -152
Just south of the N corner: -167
