Narrative

Today, another sunny, hot, and rather muggy day, we worked in both WSDA1 and WSDB. In WSDB, we broke 3 rocks in the N corner, and after that, dug Locus 23 to the point where the darker, loamy, wash was gone and we could close Locus 23. After that, Locus 26 was extended to the NW baulk, to coincide with the more clayey matrix. Under Locus 26, we are continuing to uncover a very light, quite packed matrix with lenses of charcoal. We\\\'ll close Locus 26 when we\\\'ve uncovered that light, dense matrix in the whole NE side of WSDB. We did not extend WSDB, because the long meter tapes were being used (Lilit was drawing), and it was a good decision, because tomorrow we will have fewer workers and so may need to suspend work in WSDB to finish up WSDA1 and maybe WSDA2.

In WSDA1, we took Locus 44 down to a redder, very clayey matrix, and we stopped digging where we hit the decomposing bedrock near the N corner of the trench. I also took two soil samples from the other side of the trench (WSDA1.45.MB.01, WSDA1.46.MB.01). I created Locus 45 for the SE half of the room, and we started taking the dark soil out of it today. Locus 46 is the very, very light and dry clayey matrix at the bottom of the niche in the SE wall of the room.
