Narrative

Today was a hot day in Tsaghkahovit, though it rained last night. That meant that we dug WSDA1.47 along the SW wall in order to facilitate the drying of the dirt for screening. We managed to dig the locus down to the point where we\\\'ll call it finished for the year. We managed to clear Locus 26 also, in the E corner, down to the sterile soil. With the exception of Locus 22, the very edge of the E corner, inside the quarter-circle of stones, everything is finished in WSDA1.

We also worked in WSDA2 today, beginning to scrape away the clayey matrix down to the sterile soil. We managed to finish that along the SW baulk, and began to inch toward the N corner, but there\'s a slightly strange thing happening - instead of a hard, white, packed floor surface with an evident clayey, darker matrix beneath, the hard, white clay is continuing down. I will have to determine tomorrow whether we need to continue digging there or only clean and photo. In WSDA2, along the SW baulk, we did not screen the soil but looked in the wheelbarrow for material. The material density is very light, about 2 pieces of ceramic over a 4.5 m x 1 m stretch, and the amount of clay in the matrix makes it very difficult to screen.

In WSDB, Bryan also cleaned the \"carpet of rocks\" in Locus 36, enough for it to appear as though it\'s just a mess that will need to be cleared away.
