Today the weather is very sunny and warm. I started the day by removing cow poop from my trench. Next, I was down to 3 workers because the rest were rock breakers in Cynthia\'s trench. We cleaned locus 4 to expose the rock fall. We broke 2 rocks in my trench. I opened locus 5 and closed locus 4. I decided to collapse part of locus 5 to be smaller and excavate only the dark soil. Found a vessel in situ. I also took a very good charcoal sample. It appears there is bedrock around the vessel in locus 5. I cannot take a soil sample from under the vessel. I opened locus 6 to find the clay I saw in loccus 5. Locus 6 is a medium brown soil with very silty texture. At the bottom of locus 6, I found clay. WE found a hearth looking vessel at the very end of the day. I covered it and will return to it Monday. I still dont think I have a floor.
