Today was a busy, hot and sunny day in WSDB. We dug down under where the boulders were (now Locus 41, in the NW extent of the room, extending out from its W corner) and found pieces of a hearth, the side of a smashed vessel, and a rock formation, all of which may or may not be in on a floor. We cleaned and took photos, but we had to recover it and will continue to work there tomorrow to see what exactly we have.
It does seem clear that there is some sort of dividing line in the room, between Locus 41 and Locus 36 to the SE. Locus 36 has the hard-packed white clay that Lori and decided couldn\'t possibly be a floor b/c of the small (6-10 cm diam) rocks embedded within it. So we also took Locus 36 down by shovels and tried to screen, but there was so little material, and the soil is so clayey, that screening was deemed unnecessary.
We also made Locus 42 in the passage between WSDA1 and WSDB, extending toward the burial area, and we began digging that down and screening. We\'ll continue work in 41 and 42 tomorrow.
We also tried to start backfilling in WSDA1, but we only had time to fill earth in near the S corner on top of the wall, and to throw some earth on reburied ceramics and bone in the S corner.
