Narrative

Today we continued to remove the debris from yesterday’s rock breaking and clean around the rocks to the north of the central capstone. I made the area north of the capstone (where the rock pile used to be) Locus 9. Locus 9 is almost entirely ringed by stones, except for a gap in the north. This gap is partially filled by an arc of clay, but our efforts to find the rest of the arc didn’t pan out. In this locus, there are various clay lenses that don’t make much sense at the moment. While digging in Locus 9 we found a very large bird bone, as well as evidence of suslik burrows.

In the western chamber (locus 8), we began by removing the three capstones in a line running E-W. While defining the edges of the remaining rocks, I uncovered an in-situ (but partially broken) vessel, just next to and partially beneath another capstone (to the north of the 3 we removed) that we then removed.
