Narrative

Today was the last day to work in WSS1&2, so even though the dirt was exceedingly wet and impossible to screen, we worked to take the whole trench down to bedrock. We also cleaned all the features, and prepped the trench both for final photos and Lilit to draw.

In WSS2 Locus 13, Bryan discovered that it had a pit in the feature, approx 30 cm in diameter, in the east side. Not much more material came from the locus, but it was very interesting. We also dug from Locus 13 to the N corner to see whether it or the flagstone floor continued, but it seems it does not.

We also dug the trough in WSS2, and found a considerable amount of charcoal, making its function exceedingly puzzling.

There is also a lot of antler that came out of WSS1&2 Locus 5, plus a lot of ceramics over in the NE area.

We closed WSS1&2.5, and WSS2.13 and WSS2\'s trough. We dug to sterile, and the trench is done.

Amazingly, we also found a zoomorphic protome that has a puzzling hole in it. It could be a spout, but it would have to be for something you don\'t want to pour much of - the diameter of the hole is about .4 cm. The shape appears to be a bull, very very similar to the column capitals at Persepolis.
